A fabulously elegant and luxurious woman of history who was just as stunning as Diamonds herself once said "Diamonds are a girl’s best friend." ~ Marilyn Monroe.

She was, in some aspect, very correct, however I believe that it is not only diamonds but that Jewels are a girl’s best friend. Us women love to swoon over the precious sparklers that are Gems and Jewels, from Rubies, to Pearls, Emeralds to Tanzanite.

Last Friday evening Think Shaadi and The Mayfair brought this love to life with their incredible showcase.

Think Shaadi put together one of my favorite twists so far; Jewels and Indian culture by bringing together renowned Western luxury brands mixed with their Eastern counterparts. Each room was created and adorned with four different Gems, Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.

With the evening envisioned by Scarlet Events, luxury wedding & event planners, of course the layout and design was always going to be out of this world. Each table was graced with grand floral decorations provided by London’s leading Florist Rob Van Helden.

On every table stood incredible couture cakes by Elizabeth's Cake Emporium, each with its own unique take on the Gems that it was representing. Elizabeth decorated her cakes with edible silver and gold embellishments, sugar roses, pearls, butterflies and even an incredible white peacock! Alongside Elizabeth's masterpieces were beautifully designed stationary and menus, each bespoke by Intricate Creations which topped off the tables elegance and grandeur.

During my tour through the wanderlust that was in front of my models were gracefully flaunting the world renowned Oscar de la Renta across each room, dripping with jewels from Amrapali.

The first Gem that I encountered was Emerald, the large floral display made entirely from Bells of Ireland, complimented with green roses, hypericum berries and dark green gardenia foliage’s. To complete the table, it was accessorized with gold fishbowls, handmade emerald cloth in duchess satin and gold chandelle chairs, ivory napkins and gold charger plates with matching cutlery, all provided by Great Hire.

Then came the luxury lounge filled with £2.5 million worth of Watches of Switzerland, from 155 Regent Street, along with jewelry from Amrapali personifying the heritage of India. Inside the lounge was a bespoke gold mirror martini bar by Drinks Fusion providing customized cocktails.

Next came Diamond and Sapphire!

Diamond was a timeless display that hosted Perspex ghost chairs, nine arm crystal candelabra wrapped and draped with cut white Phalaenopsis orchids. To match the diamond sequence, I saw some of the most perfect jewel encrusted clutch bags designed by Judith Leiber and shoes to match by Aruna Seth. What more could a girl ask for!

Sapphire was based an a more chic and sophisticated look by using blue brocade linen and silver French chairs with a glass candelabra covered in blue hydrangeas, muscari grape hyacinths and forget-me-nots. To top off the table layout Intricate Creations designed a laser cut blue velvet pull out mirror menu. As a more dominate gem that is sapphire, Paul Jheeta displayed his deluxe suites with a range of colours and fabrics.

Last but by no means least, the Ruby room, Think Saadi and I share the same concept of saving the very best to last, having this particular room the most dramatic and the most stunning, which is exactly what they did.

Walking into the unique hall of The Mayfair I was greeted by a 50 foot long feature table, embellished with gold vessels filled with Grand prix red roses, burgundy tulips, brown hypericum berries and dark green gardenia foliage. In-between each vessel was ornately placed fresh figs, pomegranates and grapes. The table was covered in the golden glow of candles accentuating the accessories of glasses, charger plates and mirrored etched votive for each guest.
